Fatigue
Of all the reasons both men and women come to our clinic, fatigue is, by far, the most common. There are many causes for profound fatigue. Two of the major ones are the loss of hormones and poor diet. Anything "diet" or "low fat" with the fake sugars (aspartame, Splenda™, Nutrasweet™ etc.) can cause fatigue.
The thyroid and adrenal glands play an important function in maintaining our energy levels.
Common symptoms of low thyroid are:
- chronic fatigue (despite plenty of sleep)
- inability to lose weight (despite dieting and exercising)
- cold hands and feet
- dry skin
- mild depression and mood swings
- constipation
- brittle fingernails
- eyebrows fall out
- loss of hair when brushing
- forgetfulness and inability to concentrate
- anxiety
Although your doctor may have checked your thyroid levels and informed you that everything looks normal, 95% of the time TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) is what they checked. The problem is TSH levels do not necessarily correlate with optimal thyroid health. To truly determine whether your need for thyroid hormone is being met, you must have a "free T3" test performed. The first step in our wellness program is to educate you about the different types of thyroid hormones and messengers circulating around in your body. Then we test your blood to see if you have optimal levels of the right ones.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms please schedule a personalized hormone audit to see how we can help you.
